San Diego Research Center Selects QualNet for Network Design and Research; Scalable Network Technologies' Software Chosen for Parallel Execution Capability
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2003--Scalable Network Technologies (SNT), the developer of QualNet Software, today announced that San Diego Research Center Incorporated (SDRC) has purchased QualNet software to design and analyze wireless communication networks. SNT develops network simulation software called QualNet that accurately predicts wired and wireless network behavior. QualNet can also run network models on parallel processors, greatly increasing the size, complexity and speed that is possible in network simulation.
"QualNet's parallel simulation capability was the deciding factor in our choice to buy the software," said Lindsey McClure, President of SDRC. "We are designing networks of hundreds and thousands of nodes, so scalability is critical. We didn't want to wait days for simulation results of thousand-node networks, which can happen with other products. Also important is the level of detail and accuracy with which we can predict network behavior. QualNet acts as our arbiter of network design. The software allows us to explore a great number of network design possibilities and indicates what the best network configurations may be for our performance requirements."
"SDRC's work with wireless ad hoc and fixed networks shows that QualNet delivers great value in the management and design of networks," said SNT President Rajive Bagrodia. "We're pleased that SDRC is using QualNet for a number of their contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense and hope they continue to use QualNet for large-scale, demanding network design and research projects."
About SDRC
The San Diego Research Center (SDRC) specializes in research and development of wireless communications for Defense applications, including modem design, mobile ad-hoc networking, and networking with directional antennas. The SDRC leverages the core competencies of its highly qualified research staff to develop novel technologies that contribute to the future of military wireless networks. Its customers include DARPA, ARL, PEO STRI, and Raytheon's Future Combat Systems -- Communications program. Additional information about SDRC is available at www.sdrcinc.com.
